4 Reasons Why a Grandparenting Course is Helpful:

Grandparenting is not the same as parenting
The two roles are intrinsically different and there are many small changes that need to be made as you learn how to navigate from one to the other.
The transition from parent to grandparent is called Grandescence.

So much has changed in the last few decades that some methods are now outdated or unsafe. Todays parents will understandably do some things differently.
Parenting practices have changed

Being a supportive grandparent when values, boundaries and expectations are so different can
be challenging and a source of tension.
Recent studies show that this is a leading cause of family estrangement, which is on the rise.
Family estrangement is on the rise

Grandescence is the transition from parenting to grandparenting but our courses aren't just for grandparents. They're for any chosen supporter - great aunt, uncle, sibling or friend.
We also have a newborn care course for new parents or supporters.
Not just for grandparents

How Families Can Benefit From Grandparent Courses
-
Our courses don't teach you how to suck eggs. It’s about feeling prepared, respected and supportive as everyone transitions into this new chapter of their lives.
-
The knowledge and wisdom grandparents have gained from raising their children is vast and we want to guide you on to how best to use that wisdom to support new parents in the way they need most.
-
We've seen just how much love and willingness there is to help but also how the landscape of support has changed. Being a parent is not an interchangeable role with a grandparent and not all support is equal. Sometimes, good intentions need a little guidance.
-
We'll help to identify ways to avoid the tension and pitfalls, build healthy boundaries and forge strong intergenerational bonds
Wondering how grandparenting has changed and what your new role looks like?
-
We’ll provide insight, context and scenarios to help unpack the differences between parenting and grandparenting, bring you up-to-date on all the changes and refresh your memory on practical care.
-
Not a grandparent but taking on the role of one? No problem, all of our courses are available to chosen supporters.
